Bodhisattvas fear causes, while sentient beings fear results. Not seeking returns is a moral statement, fundamentally pursuing the immediacy, unchangeability, and causality of one's actions. This is what is meant by "those who build well do not uproot, those who embrace well do not let go." Why not seek returns? Before the action, the immediate incentive of the action itself allows one to complete it; after the action, the return has already occurred immediately after the specific action is completed, and no one can change the action, only the result. So it is not that one does not seek returns, but rather that returns do not need to be sought; the action itself is the return. From a moral standpoint, not seeking returns is simpler and safer. The individual and friends are two different worlds. Friends often imply care, friendliness, warmth, understanding... but friends were originally strangers. Many people claim to have friends, but in reality, they do not. Because the loneliness represented by individualism is inescapable.
